Eco-Fashion FAQs

What are the benefits of organic cotton?

The average 100% cotton t-shirt is really only 73% cotton and the other 27% is made out of chemicals (it takes approximately 17 teaspoons of pesticides to grow the cotton for only one t-shirt).

Today cotton crops use more chemicals per area than any other crop,  up to 25% of the world’s pesticides. The chemicals used to process cotton also pollute the air and water.

Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides and the plants are not genetically modified.
By wearing organic cotton you not only ensure the best quality fabric near your skin, but you also do something to significantly help the environment.

What are the benefits of bamboo fabrics?

Bamboo is versatile with a short growth cycle. Bamboo fibre has many excellent properties that make it ideal for processing into textiles. Bamboo fabric is exceptionally soft and light, almost silky in feel. This makes it breathable and cool to wear. It also absorbs more water than other conventional fibres such as cotton and polyester.

Bamboo is also sustainable  to grow as it does not require the use of pesticides and grows very quickly in favourable conditions. There are over 1000 species of bamboo on the earth. The diversity makes bamboo adaptable to many environments. It can be harvested in 3-5 years versus 10-20 years for most softwoods. Bamboo tolerates extremes of precipitation, from 30-250 inches of annual rainfall.
