How is No Formula being Eco-Friendly?

Sonja, the designer behind No Formula, believes that the Eco-fashion trend is about being super-stylish and conscious, responsible and environmentally-aware. She sees green design and clothing as a means of effective social and environmental change.

As the designer, she is responsible for ensuring that all steps have been taken to ensure No Formula’s garments are environmentally friendly during design and production. No Formula aims, for future collections, that as many sustainable alternatives have been research and implemented.

No Formula is one of a few emerging labels that is taking steps to ensure that its production is not doing harm to global ecology.

No Formula is striving to get the Sustainable-living ethos message out to the rest of the world through their garments. No Formula is a label that takes a  strong environmental stance and strives to provide as much information about their eco-garments to their consumers.

Much effort and consideration is going into standing firm on this ethos!

And with every garment, and every collection, both awareness and increasing questions are being addressed on the topic!

There is no simple, single way to create completely sustainable fashions. There are many factors to consider when designing a garment, and a collection. When designing a garment it’s important to consider the whole life-cycle the garment to reduce it’s environmental impact at each stage

These are some of the many considerations that No Formula takes while producing garments and growing the label:

  • How can intelligent design be translated into reducing the social and environmental impact of the garment’s life-cycle?
  • Are the fabric manufacturers prevent pollution of local water and air?
  • What are the effects of the fabrics and dyes used in the garments?
  • How much water is required to grow the fibres, and produce the fabrics made that were chosen for the garments?
  • Can garments be designed to be longer-lasting, and better-functioning, thereby reducing the need to replace it?
  • Have all the sustainable alternatives possible been researched when it comes to fabrics, fabric manufacturers and suppliers?
  • Is the supply chain being used result in a lower carbon-footprint for the production of the garment?
  • What are the social costs of both the fabric and the garment production?
  • Would it be possible to further reduce the amount of non-bio degradable waste in the manufacturing and packaging of the garments?
  • What will be the implications of disposal of the garment? Is it bio-degradable?
  • How durable are the garments and is it possible to increase their longevity?
  • How can you encourage the customer to form an emotional attachment to your product, thereby discouraging disposal?
  • How does the garment need to be cleaned, and what impact will this have on
the environment?

No Formula uses certified organic cotton and bamboo fabrics from Australian fabric suppliers, ensuring that the garments are environmentally friendly, have a low carbon-footprint through supply, production, and packaging. No formula also aims to be socially responsible by using Australian suppliers and products to create designs.
